  1. Donald Trump has signed a 'landmark' trade deal with China. He has agreed to remove tariffs on more than $US300 billion ($434 billion) of Chinese goods if China agrees to the phase two deal. Trump described the deal as "the biggest deal there is anywhere in the world, by far".

  2. Burrendong Dam in NSW, which is three times bigger than Sydney Harbour has dropped to a critical low of 1.6%, with the rain predicted for the weekend unlikely to help. The dam supplies water for towns such as Dubbo and Cobar, in the state's Central West. Only three years ago the dam was at 120%, but now there are fears that some towns could run dry by winter.

  3. Russian President Vladimir Putin made a speech in Moscow on Wednesday proposing constitutional changes that would diminish the power of future presidents, placing more power in the hands of prime ministers. It is expected that at the end of his presidential term in 2024 Putin will become prime minister, taking advantage of the new powers.

  4. Sydney has been recorded as the only capital city in Australia where the median asking unit rent fell over the quarter. It dipped by 1.9 per cent to $510 per week. While every other city except Darwin showed strong increases. Domain economist Trent Wiltshire said: "Sydney apartment completions peaked in 2018 but were still high in 2019, so all of those apartments hitting the [rental] market, that's giving tenants a lot more choice."

  5. Wall Street reset record highs in early trade. Dow Jones is up 92.51 points (0.32%) to 29,032.18, S&P 500 grew 6.21 points (0.19%) to 3,289.36 and Nasdaq reached 9,258.70, gaining 7.37 points (0.080%).
