1. Scott Morrison and national cabinet to discuss vaccination thresholds to end lockdowns and reopen borders

As Scott Morrison exits his two weeks of quarantine at the Lodge, on the agenda in the PM's meeting with national cabinet today will be deciding what percentage of the Australian population needs to be vaccinated before international borders are reopened and domestic restrictions are lifted. "It is imperative that the premiers, chief ministers and I address that question. It comes down to the medical science and what are the magic numbers," Morrison told The Australian.

2. Brisbane lockdown extended for one more day

Brisbane and Moreton Bay will remain in lockdown for an additional 24 hours after three new COVID-19 cases were reported today. Restrictions in other parts of Queensland are still set to be eased at 6pm today.

3. 130 countries support US proposal for global minimum corporate tax rate

130 countries representing more than 90% of the global economy have agreed to a 15% global minimum corporate tax rate which the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) said could generate additional tax revenue of US$150 billion globally. Sir Tim Berners-Lee has sold a non-fungible token (NFT) of the original source code he wrote for the world wide web in 1989 for US$5.4 million ($7.2 million) at auction, among one of the highest amounts ever paid for an NFT. "The process of bringing this NFT to auction has offered me the opportunity to look back in time to the moment I first sat down to write this code 30 years ago, and reflect on how far the web has come since then, and where it could go in the decades to come," Berners-Lee said.
