Pascal Soriot, CEO of AstraZeneca, has announced a new global vaccine trial after a lower initial dosage amount was found to be more effective in the company's studies. "Now that we've found what looks like a better efficacy we have to validate that," Soriot said.
2. Trump thinks there's "no way" Biden got 80m votes
President Donald Trump has again questioned the results of the US election on Twitter, writing: "There is NO WAY Biden got 80,000,000 votes!!! This was a 100% RIGGED ELECTION."
3. Backlog of coal ships waiting to enter China
82 ships carrying over $1.1 billion in coal are currently floating off China according to a report by The Australian today, which said that exports to China had dropped 96% in the first three weeks of the month.
4. Scott Farquhar tops the AFR's Young Rich List
Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar has lead the AFR's Young Rich List for 2020 with $17.77 billion. Canva CEO Melanie Perkins and COO Cliff Obrecht ($3.43 billion combined) are second on the list, while Afterpay co-founder Nicholas Molnar ($2.2 billion) and Canva chief product officer Cameron Adams ($452 million) round out the top five.
5. Wall Street closed for Thanksgiving holiday
Australia will be without its usual Wall Street lead in today due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will also have a shorter trading day on Black Friday, closing at 1pm local time rather than 4pm as usual.
