Elon Musk has overtaken Bill Gates as the second richest person in the world. This year alone, the 49-year old Musk’s wealth has soared from $7.2 billion to $127.9 billion.

2."Ice Bucket Challenge" founder, Pat Quinn has passed away

The founder of the viral “Ice Bucket Challenge” Pat Quinn has died at age 36, after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The challenge successfully raised over $220 million worldwide and was supported by celebrities including Donald Trump, Oprah, Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.

3. Donald Trump administration acknowledges election loss

Donald Trump’s administration has officially acknowledged its election loss, 16-days after the election was decided, by approving the formal transition of government to Joe Biden’s administration. Multiple states including Michigan and Pennsylvania were required to certify votes to end the pursuit of a “stolen election” conspiracy.

4. Catch classic Christmas cinema, collect cash

If you're a big fan of Christmas movies, this might be the gig for you. A review website in the US is now hiring for the new role of 'Chief Holiday Cheermeister'. The successful candidate will be required to watch 25 classic Christmas movies in 25 days to receive US$2,500 ($3,400).

5. Dow Jones closes above 30,000

The Dow Jones closed above the milestone level of 30,000 points for the first time on Tuesday after gaining 454.97 points or 1.54% during the session. The index closed at the record high of 30,046.24. "That's a sacred number: 30,000. Nobody thought they'd ever see it," President Donald Trump said in a short press conference at the White House. The S&P 500 also reached a record high close of 3,635.41 after climbing 57.82 points or 1.62%, while the Nasdaq rose 156.15 points or 1.31% to 12,036.78, just shy of its record of 12,056.44 reached in early September.
