1. NSW has recorded just 6 new coronavirus cases out of almost 3500 tests that were conducted on Sunday. In Victoria, 7000 tests were performed over the weekend with just one positive case being recorded on Sunday. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said "We need to be proud of the progress we've made...but that's not an invitation to relax." Meanwhile NSW Premier Gladys Berijiklian said these results were "very positive".
2. The Morrison government have announced a coronavirus app that will trace the location of users, but Government Services Minister Stuart Robert clarified the app will not be compulsory to download and will be encrypted to protect personal details. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg clarified the purpose of the app is to "trace the digital handshake" and alert people who had been in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.
3. 10 people have been killed in a shooting rampage in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia on Sunday. The suspected shooter was dressed in a police uniform and is among the 10 people killed.
4. The Morrison government has introduced a mandatory code of conduct on digital platforms that will require platforms like Google and Facebook to pay media companies for the use of their news content.
5. The ASX is set for a flat open. The Dow Jones closed on a high on Friday, up 2.99% to 24,242.49. The S&P 500 was up 2.68% to 2,874.56 and Nasdaq boosted 1.38% to 8,650.14.
