1. The number of new COVID-19 cases in NSW has dropped below 100, which is its lowest rise in case numbers in weeks. Health officials revealed 91 confirmed infections overnight.

2. 10 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits from job losses due to COVID-19 shutdowns.

3. Western Australia has become the first state to introduce border closures in Australia. From midnight on Sunday, only "essential workers" will be allowed to travel to WA, unless they are granted exception on compassionate grounds.

4. Oil prices surged on Thursday after a heavy drop the day before, suggesting the oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia may be easing after record low numbers.

5. Wall Street ended on a high on Thursday, after oil prices jumped up, with the Dow closing up 2.24% to 21,413.44, S&P 500 up 2.28% to 2,526.90 and Nasdaq up 1.72% to 7,487.31.
