The Gold Coast skyline is set for a golden, piercing change, with plans unveiled for what developers reckon will become Australia’s tallest building: a 91-storey Trump International Hotel & Tower in Surfers Paradise.

Altus Property Group, alongside The Trump Organization, has announced the Trump-branded development, the first official project for the US group in Australia.

At about 335 metres, the tower would overtake the current height record held by Q1 on the Gold Coast, which stands at 322.5 metres to its architectural tip.

The project will include a 285-room hotel carrying the Trump name, 272 residential apartments and a three-level podium featuring a private beach club. Developers say more than 3,400 square metres of commercial, retail and dining space will form part of the precinct, aimed at revitalising the central Surfers Paradise strip.

Eric Trump, executive vice president of The Trump Organization, said the project marked the group’s entry into the Australian market.

“Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast is our first official project in Australia and reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class luxury experiences in iconic locations around the world.”

Altus founder and chief executive David Young said the tower would offer a product not yet seen locally.

“Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast will be a truly unique offering in the Australian market, bringing the prestige and allure of a world-class luxury brand.”

The Trump Tower Gold Coast comes at a time when the local luxury apartment market is testing new price ceilings, particularly in southeast Queensland.

The scale of the project is significant. A 335-metre tower would not only reset the height benchmark nationally, it would reshape planning debates around density, shadowing and infrastructure along one of Australia’s most tightly built beachfront corridors.

Construction timelines and funding details have not been disclosed. The development will require approval from local and state authorities before work can begin.
