Mercedes-Benz opens the doors to its new Sydney Studio in the heart of the CBD

Sydney just got a very stylish new address. Mercedes-Benz has opened its first Studio in Australia, right in the middle of the city, and it’s unlike any showroom you've walked into before.

The Mercedes-Benz Studio Sydney opened its doors at 39 Martin Place, marking the brand’s first foray down under into a global concept that’s redefining what a car showroom can be. Forget rows of vehicles and pushy salespeople. This is being pitched as an inner-city cultural touchpoint, somewhere design, technology and culture are meant to collide, and the public is invited in to explore it for free. As the song goes, walk on by, but do stop!

It’s a bold move for a brand built on precision engineering, but Mercedes-Benz is betting that the way people fall in love with a car has changed. Rather than waiting for customers to walk into a dealership, the Studio brings the brand into the heart of the city, with an ever-changing program of vehicle displays, product launches, events and cultural collaborations.

Step inside and vehicles take centre stage within a considered, gallery-like interior. The palette borrows from Mercedes-Benz’s own cars: seat leather with white contrast stitching, brushed silver metal, warm timber and tactile textiles, so the craftsmanship of the vehicles carries through into the furniture and fittings around them.

A floor-to-ceiling LED wall gives the space a digital pulse, transforming to reflect new products, stories and cultural moments. It’s complemented by a series of intricate decorative lights designed by Volker Haug, winner of the 2025 Melbourne Design Week Award. Sound gets the same attention to detail, with a Burmester audio system, built on the brand’s longstanding partnership with Mercedes-Benz, delivering the kind of premium audio experience usually reserved for the cars themselves.

Believe me, for car enthusiasts, the real drawcard will always be what’s parked inside. The new Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 d SUV will be making its first public appearance in Australia at the Studio, well ahead of its local launch later this year, giving Sydneysiders a first look at the brand’s latest large SUV before anyone else in the country. “Mercedes-Benz Studio Sydney provides an impactful experience in one of the world’s most iconic cities,” said Homero Becerra, CEO and Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific. “Sydney attracts visitors from around the globe and is celebrated for its innovative design, providing the perfect environment to engage fans, brand enthusiasts and customers alike. With an ever-changing selection of vehicles, stories and experiences, the Studio will offer visitors and the local community a compelling insight into the breadth of Mercedes-Benz at every visit.”

Sydney joins a growing global network of Mercedes-Benz Studios opening across more than 10 major cities in 2026, including Los Angeles, Munich, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Toronto. Each one follows a shared global concept but is tailored to its own city, letting local culture and partnerships shape the experience.

The timing is no accident either. The opening forms part of Mercedes-Benz’s ‘140 Years of Innovation’ celebrations, marking 140 years since Carl Benz filed the patent for the first automobile, and follows the brand’s ‘140 Years. 140 Places.’ S-Class journey, which passed through Martin Place back in June.

Mercedes-Benz Studio Sydney is open to the public Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm, and is closed on weekends and NSW public holidays. Entry is free, and more information is available at mercedes-benz.com.au. Walk on by, but do stop!
